Cooperation with foreign higher institutions, organizations and associations is one of the strategic directions of Almaty Management University.
The aim of internationalization is to enhance AlmaU’s reputation in the international arena as a leader in higher education by integrating projects, curricula, academic staff, administrative staff and students into the global learning community.
A network of international partners plays an primordial role in the development of international cooperation, as well as in the integration of AlmaU into the global educational and scientific environment AlmaU maintains stable partnerships with many foreign universities and international associations in Europe, Asia, America and the CIS.
AlmaU has an extensive network of international partners from more than 130 universities in 35 countries. AlmaU is also a member of more than 25 local and international associations and organizations.
AlmaU – Cintana Alliance
ASU and its international enablement partner, Cintana Education, are working together to build the Cintana Alliance The Cintana Alliance is a global network of innovative and forward-looking universities working together to bring the best of higher education to every one of their students.
Cintana Alliance affiliated universities have been carefully selected and now have the opportunity to be “Powered by ASU”, gaining access to coordinated degree programs where students can visit and study with ASU in Tempe, the ability to enroll their students directly in ASU online courses, international exchange programs for students and faculty, and research collaboration opportunities.
Almaty Management University (AlmaU) initiated the expansion of the institution’s academic programs in order to serve the fast-growing demand for postsecondary education across Kazakhstan and Central Asia. As part of the initiative, the university has joined the Cintana Alliance, enabling its students to benefit from collaboration with some of the world’s most innovative institutions. In addition to benefitting from cutting-edge curriculum and learning practices, AlmaU students will have the opportunity to earn a degree from the Alliance’ flagship partner, Arizona State University. Among 100 institutions in the country, AlmaU was selected to join the Cintana Alliance, a global network of ambitious universities working together to build and scale high-quality academic programs that respond to their country’s economic needs. As a member of the Cintana Alliance, AlmaU will have access to Arizona State’s online curriculum and expertise in digital learning earning, insights into how to build a world-class research program, and articulation agreements that enable students to earn an Arizona State credential or degree. AlmaU works with Cintana’s team of experts who have decades of experience in building and growing universities around the world. The collaboration between Arizona State and AlmaU is expected to strengthen domestic higher education and promote Kazakhstan’s brand in the international scientific and academic environment.

GARP
GARP (Global Association of Risk Professions) is a non-profit structure whose main goal is to support educational programs in the field of risk management and search for solutions to problems that arise in the financial industry with its development and emergence of new risks.
In 2019, Financial Engineering MBA program of Graduate School of Business obtained international accreditation in GARP. This allows students of this program to pass an international exam on risk management in finance (FRM) during their studies. Certification (FRM) is recognized internationally as master’s degree standard in the USA, Singapore, India, etc. GSB is the first and so far the only academic partner of GARP in Kazakhstan. With this accreditation, AlmaU set the high standards for development of the business education market in the CIS countries.

AACSB
In March 2014, the Graduate School of Business Almaty Management University (International Academy of Business at the time) became a member of the AACSB – Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. To date, the association includes more than 1,700 organizations, including more than 900 accredited business schools from more than 100 countries.
AACSB International is a global nonprofit association, that connects educators, students, and business to achieve a common goal: to create the next generation of great leaders.

EFMD
EFMD is a global, non-profit, membership-driven organisation dedicated to management development. It is recognised globally as an accreditation body for business schools, business school programmes, and corporate universities.
EFMD includes more than 972 member organizations from academia, business structures, the public sector and consulting agencies in 90 countries.
Almaty Management University (then the International Academy of Business) has been a member of EFMD since 1993.

UN PRME
The Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) is a United Nations-supported initiative founded in 2007. Working through Six Principles, PRME engages business and management schools to ensure they provide future leaders with the skills needed to balance economic and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aligning academic institutions with the work of the UN Global Compact. As a voluntary initiative with over 800 signatories worldwide, PRME has become the largest organised relationship between the United Nations and management-related higher education institutions.
AlmaU as a socially responsible university has been a committed PRME signatory since 2009. Its progress reports are available here AlmaU President and Founder Dr. Assylbek Kozhakhmetov is the PRME Board member since 2020.
On October 5 the new Chapter Eurasia has been presented to the public during the UN PRME Global Chapter Forum UN PRME Global Chapter Forum. The mission of the Chapter Eurasia is to engage new members from the region to the PRME network, to ensure that the principles of responsible management education are integrated into academic and research activities in universities of the region, and to open international opportunities for the Chapter Signatories for meaningful knowledge sharing and networking.

CEEMAN
CEEMAN is an international management development association with the aim of accelerating the growth in quality of management development. Now it is a global network of management development institutions interested in quality of education and innovations in this field, as well as in the broad area of subjects related to change, with 200 members from 50 countries in Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
Almaty Management University (then the International Academy of Business) has been a member of CEEMAN since 2004, has the institutional accreditation of the International Quality Accreditaiton (IQA) CEEMAN since 2010 to the present day. IQA is a quality mark, a standard in business education, which confirms that an educational institution improves and maintains the high quality of management education.
In 2014, 2017 and 2021, representatives of AlmaU staff were awarded the CEEMAN Champions Award.
